The Building Department handles zoning, commercial, and residential inspections for the city. Office operating hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
City of Argo Business Licenses and Building Permitsmay be applied for in the online portal.
Permits
New construction, additions, renovation or repair to any residential or commercial structure including the following:
• Roofing
• Electrical, Plumbing, Gas & Mechanical
• Decks
• Pools
• Mobile home set-up
• Sheds or accessory structures
• Fences
• Retaining Walls
All plans must be reviewed before a building permit will be issued.
No work may be legally performed without a permit. Emergency repairs may apply for permits on the following business day.

Complete and return to us with payment and we will issue permits upon approval.
Business Licenses
A license is required for any business, trade, occupation, vocation, profession conducted in the city & our jurisdiction. You may print an application on our forms page. Complete and return the application to us, with payment and we will issue the license upon approval. For information concerning fees, call 205.352.2120 and ask for Tabitha, or email clerk@cityofargo.org.
